1. Simmered Soy pulp(おから煮:Okara-Ni)

There are many recipes of using Okara, but Okara-Ni is one of the most popular Japanese healthy cuisines. Many Japanese on a diet eat it to lose weight effectively. But it’s very tasty despite being healthy. Generally, carrot, burdock, and mushroom are used in cooking Okara-Ni.

2. Tofu-Salisbury Steak(豆腐ハンバーグ:Tofu-Hamburg)

Generally, Salisbury Steak is made from a blend of ground beef. Look at the picture below. You might think it’s Salisbury Steak. But it’s Tofu-Salisbury Steak or Tofu-Hamburg made from traditional Japanese food, TOFU!! It doesn’t include any meat. So it’s very popular for vegetarians. Of course, I often eat it when I’m on a diet.

3. Deep Fried Tofu(揚げ出し豆腐:Agedashi-Tofu)

The way to cook Agedashi-Tofu is to dust tofu with potato starch or cornstarch and then deeply fried it until golden brown. It’s easy. We serve Agedashi-Tofu in a hot tentsuyu broth made of dashi, mirin, and soy sauce with green onion, grated radish or dried bonito flakes(katsuobushi) . It’s awesome to eat it while drinking beer.

4. Kinpira-Burdock Root and Meat(きんぴらゴボウ:Kinpira-Gobo)

“Kinpira” is one of the Japanese cooking methods that includes both sauteing and simmering. The methods can be used for cooking a variety of root vegetables and other ingredients. The most common Kinpira cuisine is Kinpira-Gobo made from burdock root and carrot. You can cook by sauteing them in sesame oil, simmering in water and seasoning with soy sauce, mirin and chili pepper.

 5. Pork Salad (豚しゃぶサラダ:Buta-Shabu-Salad)

You may become bored from Salad, when you are on a diet. You want to eat meat sometimes, right? In this case, you should try Buta-Shabu-Salad. It’s amazing because it’s a power and healthy food. It’s made of thinly sliced pork which is cooked in boiled water and salad. You can eat it with several sauces such Vinegar, Ponzu or rich Sesame paste.

6. Simmered Hijiki Seaweed(ひじき:Hijiki-No-Nimono)

Hijiki is a kind of seaweed. It has rich dietary fibre and essential minerals such as calcium, iron, and magnesium. So it’s good for your health. There are several ways to cook hijiki, but the most common recipe is simmered hijiki. Of course, it’s not a main dish but a side one. It’s a good, healthy appetizer.

7. Simmered Dried Radish Strips(切り干し大根煮:Kiriboshi-Daikon-Ni)

Kiriboshi-Daikon-Ni is made with a unique Japanese cooking method. You can cook it by simmering dried radish (kiriboshi daikon) after frying. Dried radish consists of nutritionally rich ingredients : calcium, fiber, magnesium and so on. So it’s helpful in preventing the onset of several diseases.
